Damselfly nymphs

I took some photos around the pond today, many of which were of a particular species of damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula), although I haven’t uploaded any here because they weren’t detailed enough. However, later on I did manage to find lots of damselfly larva hidden amongst the pondweed. I fished them out for temporary viewing, and even managed to get some quite detailed images.

I was quite surprised at how varied in colour they were,  I didn’t think they were of different species because they looked so similar, perhaps the variation is dependent on something else.

Something tells me these’ll be making more of an appearance in my work soon…
